The art on this clothing is Paul Signac's 1893 painting, “In the Time of Harmony”. Paul had originally planned a painting titled “In the Time of Anarchy”, however political repression targeting the anarchists in France at this time forced him to change the topic in order for his work to be accepted by galleries. Then Paul had a new idea. Prior to this work of his, all previous paintings dealing with anarchy depicted revolt either directly or indirectly, through scenes of poignant misery. Instead, Signac decided to show a new age of Happiness, well-being and harmony that people dreamed of. Paul imagined what would be the daily activities, conversations and warm interactions among people “In the Time of Harmony”, and that’s what he depicted in this work of his. The complete title of this stunning painting is “In the Time of Harmony (The Golden Age is not in the Past, it is in the Future)”.
